This is my second exercise from “How to Paint Like Turner” book. Check out my first exercise here.

This is how Turner’s painting looks like and the step by step guide:

Now that I look back, I should add more deep shadow to the buildings but I enjoyed the layered painting process.

Not enough shadows?

I guess I don’t want to mimic Turner (not that I can…) but my lighter version of the early morning by the water.

  1. Love Turner. His work is very inspirational. Personally think that some of his earlier work has sign of early expressionism.
